Geoffrey Bawa is one the greatest architects you might not have heard of. In this beautiful and poetic documentary, filmmakers Afdhel Aziz, Hayden Blaz and Paul Vu explore the work of Sri Lanka’s most important architect through five of his most important works. His collaborators and preeminent architects discuss how Bawa decolonised 20th-century architecture and inspired Asia to live more naturally, sustainably and beautifully.

“A long overdue cinematic paean to the Sri Lankan architect’s outsized talent and his fabled sensitivity to the terrain” – Wallpaper.

This film is part of the Melbourne Design Week Film Festival, which explores the impact of architecture and design through the moving image and its power to innovate and affect change; while shaping communities, cities and the environment. The Melbourne Design Week Film Festival is curated by Spiro Economopoulos. It is presented as part of Melbourne Design Week in association with Lido and Classic cinemas.
