The Australian National Surfing Museum is dedicated to telling the story of Australian surfing through permanent displays and temporary exhibitions and is also the home of the Australian Surfing Hall of Fame, which recognizes significant Australian surfers and the contributions they have made to industry, sport and culture. For Melbourne Design Week, the Australian National Surfing Museum hosts two events: a panel discussion and a surfboard shaping demonstration.

Will Solly and Corey Graham, bring together their passion for surfboard design, innovation and sustainability, to discuss contemporary shaping, challenges posed by working with new and alternative materials and the future of their craft. Moderated by Rita Lahtinen, artist and PhD candidate at Monash University, researching the sociocultural aspects of surfing and contemporary beach culture.

Visitors can also witness the craftsmanship of Darren ‘Dicko’ Dickson, with shaping demonstrations and a skill-sharing documentary running during Melbourne Design Week.

Tickets are $12 and includes entry into the museum.
