This roundtable discussion continues the conversations and issues contained in the recent Architect Victoria magazine issue ‘Migration. Women. Architecture’ guest-edited by Marika Neustupny, Mirjana Lozanovska and Maryam Gusheh with Helen Duong and Sonia Sarangi.

The round table reflects on personal experiences related to migration and architecture, emphasises the importance of cultural diversity in the architecture profession, advocates for demystifying cultural differences, and sheds light on the experiences, opportunities, barriers, and inequities faced by women in architecture, particularly those with diverse cultural backgrounds. As practitioners, researchers and educators in architecture consider the urgency of contributing to a more inclusive and socially aware design practice; this conversation provides a platform for sharing migrants’ knowledge and capacities and highlighting the creative potential of cultural exchange.
