This workshop gives emerging designers, educators, and the public an experience with several emerging digital design tools: AI image creation and VR sketching/3D modelling. The participants will engage and collaborate with RMIT Industrial Design students undertaking a digital design studio with Dr Scott Mayson titled FutureStride. This workshop will give you the ability to design the world you want through digital footwear design to explore the capability of AI Text to Image and Sketch to Image tools, and the application and implications of these tools. Design and develop iteratively, at scale, through VR (Oculus Quest Gravity Sketch) in a virtual co-designing space that explores the nexus between the irreplaceable human touch and technology. This approach enables an enhanced design and product sampling method that rapidly reduces physical materials’ environmental and ecological impact towards an improved set of innovative solutions to one of the most globally environmentally impacting throwaway apparel items, the shoe.
