What’s next after study? What can you do with a degree in art or design? Join NGV for a special conversation and Q&A featuring professionals from diverse design fields as they share insights into their careers and the career pathways that led to them working in the creative industries.

This program is presented for staff, students and recent graduates of art and design schools, or those who wish to pursue a career in creative industries.

Participants

Annika Toohey

Annika Toohey is an Exhibition Designer at the National Gallery of Victoria, merging her architectural background with a passion for design and creativity. With a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Western Australia, over the past three years at the NGV Annika has developed several exhibitions of various scales, complexities, and themes from design conception to build. Her practice integrates creativity and technical skill in the design of immersive and engaging exhibition spaces that create a dialogue between art, design, and the visitor experience.

Cally Bennett

Cally Bennett is a graphic designer and illustrator at the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV). Cally has designed and illustrated more than ten art books for NGV Kids and has also worked on a number of NGV Kids exhibitions as well as Kids Summer Festival and Kids on Tour. Cally has a diverse background in fine art and teaching and has previously worked at Melbourne Museum and as a freelancer around Melbourne.

Simone LeAmon

Simone LeAmon is the inaugural Hugh D.T Williamson Curator of Contemporary Design and Architecture at the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne (NGV). A curator, designer, artist, and educator for near to three decades, she is Adjunct Professor in the School of Design and Social Context, RMIT University and is the recipient of the 2021 Good Designs Australia, Women in Design Award, for her life-long passion and unwavering dedication to the design profession in Australia. Since 2015, LeAmon has worked on an extensive program of exhibitions and events at NGV including Melbourne Design Week (2017-24) and Melbourne Design Fair (2022-23).
