DATES

Tue 19 May 5 – 8.30pm

This event marks the launch of a new collaboration between award-winning interior design studio Foolscap and Song for the Mute, an Australian fashion label known for its narrative-driven collections and distinctive approach to material and form.

Bringing together fashion design, textile design and furniture design, the project explores how distinct disciplines can intersect through an eco-conscious and materially focused approach.

At the centre of the collaboration is a newly developed sofa, created through close exchange between designers, textile specialists and local manufacturers. The project investigates next-generation textile design and making processes, while highlighting the range of expertise required to move from concept to finished piece. Emphasis is placed on craft, material research and responsible local production.

The event offers the opportunity to view the sofa up close and gain insight into the thinking, development and manufacturing behind it. The event offers a chance to engage with the details of textile construction, furniture form and the translation of fashion sensibilities into object and interior design contexts.

The evening welcomes audiences from fashion, textiles, furniture, object and interior design. It provides an accessible introduction to the technical and collaborative processes underpinning contemporary textile and furniture design, encouraging cross-disciplinary exchange.

Lights, food and drinks will be provided, creating an informal setting for conversation and to mark the launch of the collaboration.
