How do designers make the everyday extraordinary? Meet Daniel To and Emma Aiston, the design duo behind Daniel Emma Studio as they present live from the NGV. After hearing about their inspiration and design process, Daniel and Emma will engage students in a series of design activities that use students’ worlds as a starting point to unleash creativity, encourage collaboration and build design-centred thinking.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify and discuss key sources of inspiration for design.
  • Consider the role and function of different areas of design.
  • Develop and articulate design concepts through scaffolded drawing activities.

Daniel Emma Studio
Daniel Emma is an Adelaide-based design studio established by Daniel To and Emma Aiston. Their studio works on a variety of projects ranging from desk objects to installations and major projects such as the NGV’s 2023 children’s exhibition, Up Down and All Around | Daniel Emma for Kids. They create the unexpected from simple objects, drawing influence and insight from the diverse culture that Australia presents.
