In the Australian construction industry, there are very few pathways for the reuse of discarded structural timber. It is easier and cheaper to trash it or at least, down-cycle it to lower value products. Only a small percentage is reclaimed and upcycled, usually at a premium. Another undervalued resource with potential for architectural application is tree branch unions. When urban trees are removed, this naturally strong and durable resource is usually turned into wood chips for mulch. Wrecked-Linear investigates the potential to combine these two, otherwise wasted resources, for architectural application.
