An imprint of the exhibition, this book examines the application of traditional print through contemporary graphic design. Building on emblem stationery as a medium, the technique and skill in reproducing micro details is unfolded as imagery builds up over multiple pages. Displaying the process with an archival motif from Downey contrasted against a modern abstraction by The Company You Keep, the publication explores the shifting connotations of motifs through time and the enduring value of their craftsmanship.
Print Histories and Futures is a part of Slow: a research project that examines the impact of time in creating design that has ongoing relevance.
