$10 per individual or $50 per team (up to 7 players). This will cover venue hire/insurance. This is a non-profit event.

There’s nothing new about playing a game of soccer to bring a community together, but there’s something beautiful about celebrating and enjoying what already exists.

The Nothing New Tournament is a one-day, all-abilities, five-a-side soccer tournament for designers and the public, accompanied by a panel discussion with designers working at the intersection of sustainability and soccer, including Unwanted.FC, Football Reboot and the Professional Footballers Australia (PFA). The kits and equipment use recycled materials sourced from soccer tournaments, suppliers and other waste streams.

Participants can register as a team or individually and be placed in a team.

Alongside the games, there will be a Vintage kit flea-market, football creatives and artists, and appearances from ex-A league and professional players. The event brings together designers and the public to engage with ideas of design, waste and cultural sustainability through the lens of soccer.

Each game is a faster, modified futsal match, with teams guaranteed a minimum of three games in their group matches. Top teams from each group advance to final rounds. Prizes include an upcycled trophy and a selection of fun prizes.

All ages and abilities are welcome, with a focus on encouraging participation from women and non-binary players. All teams must include at least one woman and can include up to seven players, including two reserves.
