Led by Tim Dow and Stephanie Mulder — Melbourne/Naarm creatives and founders of Mosey — Northside Design Ride is a leisurely cycling tour of Melbourne’s most creative neighbourhoods and the designers, artists and makers whose presence shapes these neighbourhoods.
Winding through back streets and green spaces, over rivers and along one of Melbourne’s most beautiful bike paths, the ride visits designers, artists and makers at design-led cafes, independent retailers, artist studios and cultural spaces, revealing a range of local creative practices along the way.
Special guest photographer Oli Sansom opens the ride with a brief workshop on the art of film, the qualities of light and the process of capturing the imperfect and unpredictable. Participants are provided with a disposable film camera and encouraged to document their experience throughout the ride. Cameras can be submitted at the end of the ride, with development included in the ticket price.
The ride is an invitation to embrace the art of taking it slow, on two wheels, and to see the city through a different lens. Proof that design isn’t in galleries alone, but woven into the fabric of neighbourhood life.
Neighbourhoods include:
- Collingwood
- Abbotsford
- Clifton Hill
- Fitzroy
While the journey through Melbourne’s streets is at a leisurely pace and largely through back streets, a medium level of fitness and cycling/road savvy is recommended. The ride is approximately 8km.
Participants are required to bring their own bicycle.
Mosey is an online platform built around a simple belief — that the best way to experience a place is by wandering its streets, one leisurely step at a time. Through curated guides, Mosey encourages curiosity and meaningful connection in some of the world’s most interesting neighbourhoods.
An online guide will be made available after the event, allowing the route to be experienced independently.
