Richmond Power Station
Hargreaves St, Cremorne VIC 3121, Australia
Material Solutions is a one-day circular design sprint set within the redevelopment of Richmond Power Station in Cremorne, facilitated by BVN Architecture and the Naomi Milgrom Foundation.
Guided by the principle that nothing leaves the site and existing materials are reused wherever possible, forty early-career architects, interior designers and industrial designers work in teams to address real design challenges drawn from the live project. Entry to participate is by competitive submission.
The day begins with a project briefing and site walk, followed by structured design stages supported by industry facilitators with experience in adaptive reuse and circular systems. Teams work towards practical, imaginative proposals that respond to the building’s heritage, material constraints and future ambitions.
The sprint concludes with live pitches to a panel of client and industry representatives.
