This event features discussions about architectural photography, its producers and its implications. It is presented in conjunction with the recent release of KA ME RA: Modern Japanese Architecture Through the Photographer’s Lens, a publication combining photobook, history and historiography that traces key developments and figures shaping the understanding of architecture in Japan.

Participants

Ari Seligmann
Professor Ari Seligmann (Department of Architecture, Monash University) is a critic, historian and designer engaged in studies of contemporary architecture and urbanism, Japanese architecture, and relations between architecture and media. His current work explores the role of photography within the discursive construction of architecture. He is a regular contributor to the Society of Architectural Historians, Australia and New Zealand, with a suite of studies on the historiography of Japanese architecture.
