Kylie’s story highlights the transformative power of secure housing: “This home has changed my life. Now I’m decorating my house, having my friends over to visit, and planning for the future. My mental health is so much better now that I have a home.” Image credit: Launch Housing.

How can architecture deliver more inclusive, flexible and sustainable housing models?

ARM presents a two-part activation exploring the future of housing diversity, adaptability and design-led community building. Housing Tomorrow in Motion considers how design can transform the way we live – today and for decades to come.

Part One – Designing Diversity for 2030+
A public discussion on the built environment as a regenerative force, hosted in ARM’s new Melbourne/Naarm studio.

Representing government, research, community housing and design, the panellists bring diverse experience in managing – and living with – the tensions, challenges and opportunities involved in addressing housing system stress.

Panellists
Marjorie Kennedy, Head of Homelessness & Housing Pathways, Homes Melbourne
Michele Morrison, Chief Development Officer, Homes Victoria
Jack Panton, Managing Director, Australian Housing Solutions
Prof Rebecca Bentley, Director, NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence in Healthy Housing, University of Melbourne
Contessa von Barron, Senior Affordable Housing Manager, VMCH
Jesse Judd, Director, ARM Architecture

Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to a relevant charitable cause.

Part Two – Video Wall
During business hours across the program, visitors to ARM’s new studio will encounter an immersive video-wall installation in the lobby on Level 27.

The video wall loops short films, animations and interviews drawn from ARM’s key housing projects – including Viv’s Place (supportive housing for women and children escaping family violence) and Bellfield (flexible social housing with dual-key layouts), both with Launch Housing.

Through data, imagery and storytelling, the installation visualises ideas of adaptability, affordability and collective living.

Through Housing Tomorrow in Motion, the program considers how design can transform the way we live – today and for decades to come.
