Design House Vol. 2

It must be said: it’s still embarrassingly common to hear a dramatic pause when someone’s asked to name talented female designers. Let’s be clear — great design is great design, period. We all experience powerful, beautiful work in all kinds of contexts, regardless of gender. That said, it’s time and space must be made to celebrate the incredible women in our field. In some circles, you can almost hear the anxious “but how will we fill the room?” — as if female talent is scarce. The truth? We could fill homes, trade halls, and entire suburbs with the brilliant women we know. So, for Melbourne Design Week 2025, we’re doing just that.

As a kind of call-and-response to our previous Design House project, OIGÅLL is opening up their actual home and filling it (literally, whatever fits up the stairs) with the work of incredible female designers.

Featured designers include Adriana Hanna, Tali Roth, Marsha Golemac, Sarah I’Anson, Studio Discourse, Antonia Ellis, Alex and Trahanas, Linda Valentic, Helen Davies, and Rosanna Ceravolo & Jordan Fleming. These women span diverse disciplines, each bringing a strong identity and thoughtful practice to the table.
