Gray Puksand invites audiences to a meaningful conversation on the importance of authentic storytelling in architecture, focusing on projects that ground design in place, history and culture.

This panel discussion will explore deep engagement, shifting from consultation to genuine co-design, how cultural integrity is embedded into design outcomes, and the positive impacts and challenges this entails. Drawing on ongoing work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander groups and guided by the practice’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), this event will illuminate the transformative possibilities of co-design, where Indigenous voices shape the vision, process and legacy of the built environment.

Attendees will gain a valuable insight into forging lasting, respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and placing Country and culture at the heart of place-making, championing an Australia where design is a vehicle for reconciliation, healing and legacy.

The session will be moderated by Gray Puksand Victoria Lead Partner Heidi Smith, with panellists including PhD Historian Brad Buller, Medibank Indigenous Engagement Lead Jeff Gray, Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Elder Uncle Dave Wandin and Gray Puksand Senior Associate Ian Khoo. The event will be hosted at the Gray Puksand designed Headquarters in Bourke Street.

A $10 entry fee will be donated to The Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency (VACCA) as nominated by Gray Puksand’s cultural advisors Kinya Lerrk.
