For two days during Melbourne Design Week, we are transforming level two of our building at 7 Alfred Street into an immersive material library. Samples, swatches, boards and blocks from a range of Australia’s leading sustainable material makers and manufacturers will fill the space — the best in class across bio-materials, circular practices, low carbon and low waste production.
This is a carefully curated gathering of people and companies that are making the most interesting and important transformation in construction materials right now, brought together in one place to share knowledge, spark conversation and demonstrate better building products for designers and specifiers to use in their next project.
Throughout both days, makers and manufacturers will be available one-on-one in the space — an intimate, unhurried setting in which to ask questions and handle real materials. Joining them will be researchers and advocates whose work sits at the frontier of sustainable design.
Each day is also anchored by a programme of curated events. Two afternoon workshops in our boardroom will bring together a small, hand-picked audience of designers and specifiers for deeper, more focused conversation. Each evening, the discussion moves upstairs to our main gathering space on level three for a panel discussion with industry leaders.
Attendance is intentionally limited, with a small number of tickets made available closer to the date. The aim throughout is to host a series of engaged and meaningful conversations, which only comes from a room of people who are committed to building a better world.
