ACCESS
ASTROLABE brings fifteen years of Christopher Boots into focused view. The exhibition assembles completed works, early prototypes, printed media, moving image and material explorations, alongside reimaginings of key moments from the studio’s history. It offers a rare opportunity to experience the philosophies that have shaped the practice, and their evolution over time.
Presented within the Fitzroy studio where design, prototyping and fabrication take place, the exhibition is open for self-guided viewing during the afternoon. Around dusk, a series of guided exhibition and workshop experiences extend into the working areas of the studio.
A special evening programme on Thursday, May 21 sees the studio’s founder in conversation with long-term collaborators across design, image-making and material practice, offering insight into the ideas, processes and relationships that have shaped the work.
From early experiments to landmark collaborations, behind-the-scenes process to theatrical image-making and deep material study, ASTROLABE brings the studio’s history into a single, coherent field of view.
Please note this event is only accessible via stairs and may not be suitable for those with limited mobility. Seating is extremely limited, with extended periods of standing and walking required.

The Christopher Boots studio is founded on the principle of Fiat Lux: Let there be light. Established on 11.11.11 through metaphysical and material exploration of quartz crystal, the studio has forged a signature aesthetic at the intersection of nature, architecture, geometry and geology. Each work is designed, prototyped and built within the studio in Melbourne, Australia. Collaborations with glass blowers, bronze foundries, sculptors, metalsmiths and stonemasons sustain a commitment to craft and an investigative sensibility that has defined the practice for fifteen years. Every Christopher Boots piece honours traditional principles of form, proportion and scale while advancing material possibilities, creating future heirlooms designed to shape architecture.
