Day 5: Circular Economy
A New Normal returns with an epic five days of festivities at the Boyd Baker House, Long Forest. This unique experience brings together leading architects and creative practitioners from across Australia to showcase a range of projects in motion to help transform our cities. On exhibition are twelve projects with each architect selecting a room across the Robin Boyd/Roy Grounds compound. A New Normal takes the opportunity to lay down the required policy to transform Greater Melbourne into self-sufficiency by 2030. This program of talented industry leaders is showcased through a series of guided tours, talks, lunches and exhibitions with limited tickets available each day.

Day 5: Circular Economy
A New Normal debuted in Melbourne Design Week 2021 with fifteen ideas from Melbourne’s leading architects and designers. The designs, which featured a sewage treatment plant that also functions as a nightclub and community hubs repurposed from multi-storey car parks, explored how sustainable technologies can enhance the city’s health and liveability. Following the success of the 2021 iteration, the A New Normal project has been developed for Sydney, Perth and Guadalajara, and nine of the Melbourne projects have moved beyond speculation and are now progressing toward real-world implementation.
Exhibitors include: Public Realm Lab, Baracco+Wright with Monash Architecture Students, Kosloff, MUIR, NMBW & Esther Stewart, NH Architecture, OPENWORK & Kerstin Thompson Architects & Josh Riesel, Oculus, Winsor Kerr & SBLA, Breathe, and Architect Brew Koch.
A New Normal is held in partnership with the Robin Boyd Foundation, Hope Street Radio, and Long Prawn.
