A collaboration between Melbourne-based interdisciplinary designers Yuxi Liu, Cuiting Wu, and Leanne Choi, Hereto is a project and collective that recollects, observes, and documents experiences concerning the body and accessories. Hereto reclaims a lost childhood self they didn’t have control over into a nostalgic experience, product, and function.

Phase 1: Hereto with Hair presents observations of hair and accessories found from the local community alongside a series of experimental wearable objects. The conversation begins from personal and collective memories tied to hair. Hair is not only a part of the body, but it is a representation of identity, belonging, growth, beauty standards, and culture. Hereto invites the audience to reflect on their relationship with hair exploring how everyday experiences echo identity: whether it is the first haircut, the uneven fringe cut, the comb tugging through tangled knots, or the pain of tight braids tied by Mum.
