80% of an object’s environmental impact is determined at the design stage, and currently much of what we design is headed to landfill. This dynamic and fast-paced workshop, hosted by UNEND and BOOM ROOM, empowers designers and makers to address the 100 billion T of materials that enter the global economy every year by implementing strategies to ensure materials continue to add value beyond end-of-life.

Designers will be challenged with designing an object from commonly wasted materials and guided through a tailored 5-stage approach for the efficient implementation of circular design strategies. We’ll explore industry-specific circular design principles, life cycle thinking approaches, and sustainable development guidelines for a holistic approach to product creation.

Aligned with UNEND and BOOM ROOM’s mission to foster long-term circularity, this session will empower participants to adopt actionable, circular strategies and showcase the potential of design as a catalyst for a regenerative and thriving future.

At the end of the workshop designers will present their final concepts and a winning submission will be selected by UNEND and BOOM ROOM.

This event is facilitated by UNEND Circular Strategist Kirby Clark and Boom Studios + BOOM ROOM Owner Ryan Bishop.
