Designing Futures is a guided walking tour exploring some of the Brunswick Design District’s (BDD) feature locations. Meet local designers and creatives working in these spaces and discover how they are imagining and designing sustainable, inclusive, and future-forward perspectives, practices, and places across landscape architecture, fashion and textiles, art, and culture.

The tour will feature three stops within a short distance:
• Michelle Guglielmo Park: Mark Gillingham from GLAS Landscape Architects will share how their vision for creating natural spaces in urban pockets was brought to life at the newly opened Michelle Guglielmo Park at 260 Sydney Road, a place for people to connect back to nature amongst the concrete landscape.
• Balam Balam Place: Explore Merri-bek’s newly opened, purpose-built $30 million Balam Balam Place cultural, creative and community hub, and meet some of the team behind its design and operation. Hear how the facility’s management team from ‘These are the Projects We Do Together’ aim to support designers, artists and creative communities, building the capacity and capability of the broader creative ecosystem.
• RMIT University Brunswick Campus including MPavilion9: The tour continues to RMIT’s Brunswick Campus, where the focus is on future skills, innovative thinking, regenerative practices and inclusive creativity. Hear about some of the projects taking place on site – providing a place for academics, researchers, and students to explore, experiment, trial, and test ideas, whilst growing connections across industry, community, and government.

The Brunswick Design District (BDD) is a creative precinct supporting businesses, start-ups, designers, artists, makers, musicians, venues, and world-class education. It is supported through a partnership between RMIT University, Merri-bek City Council and Creative Victoria.

Starting point: 9.45am at Michelle Guglielmo Park, 250 Sydney Road Brunswick.
Presentations commence at 10:00am.
