DATES
Sun 18 May 10am – 4pm
MDW 2v2 is a 2-on-2 basketball tournament that provides a space for creatives from all disciplines to compete and connect. Whether you’re competing or watching, MDW 2v2 offers a unique opportunity to engage with the Melbourne Design Week community. In addition to the main tournament, there will be other games open to the public for participation on the day.
The full day program will be announced closer to the tournament date.
MDW 2v2 is set within a recently completed collaboration between March Studio, OCULUS, and Reko Rennie called Oddy’s Green. Oddy’s Green transforms over 2,500 square meters of underutilised space across three large office buildings, the project introduces diverse environments for recreation, relaxation, and interaction. The project’s centrepiece is two commissioned works by Melbourne-based Kamilaroi artist Reko Rennie. A large interior artwork graces the wall of Building 10, while a custom basketball court, laser cut and perforated in Rennie’s signature ‘Original Aboriginal Camouflage’ patterns, brings vibrancy to the outdoor space. The landscape by OCULUS anchors the Rennie basketball court, and is complemented by an in-house-designed graphic and wayfinding strategy.

March Studio
March Studio believes that quality of life and wellbeing can be positively affected by the physical environment around us. They create spaces and places where human relationships are improved by the world in which we live, work, and play. Their projects are responses to the way people occupy space and engage with each other. To bring that vision to life, March Studio ground their creative process in practical — and ingenious — solutions that are informed by a hands-on engagement with materials, and experimentation with innovative building systems and multidisciplinary thinking.
