Melbourne Design Week 2025 marks the debut of Knotte, a new Australian brand dedicated to championing local designers and manufacturing. Designed and crafted entirely in Australia, Knotte celebrates the skill and ingenuity of local makers, creating modular seating systems that are as functional as they are enduring.
Presented as a showroom-style installation art directed by Oigåll Projects, the activation will showcase Knotte’s three debut collections – Almas, Jones, and Astor. These collections are designed to elevate interiors while supporting the local design and manufacturing ecosystem. Central to the presentation is the Almas range, a collaboration with Melbourne-based emerging designer Joanne Odisho, exemplifying Knotte’s commitment to fostering new talent and strengthening the creative community.
As part of the program, Knotte will host a morning panel discussion on Friday 16 May, bringing together voices from across the industry to explore how established furniture brands can nurture emerging designers while maintaining a commitment to local manufacturing. The panel will be moderated by Stephen Todd (Design Editor, Australian Financial Review) and feature Adele Winteridge (Founding Director, Foolscap), Joanne Odisho (Designer), and Joel Kennard (Director, Knotte & Burgtec).
Knotte’s debut is a celebration of Australian creativity and craftsmanship, reinforcing the value of local design in shaping thoughtful, innovative, and lasting solutions.
