Accessible bathroom, Seating availableThe Australian Furniture Design Award (AFDA) began in 2015 as Australia’s richest furniture design prize. This biennial competition and award celebrate the most interesting furniture and lighting design being created in Australia today. The award focuses on new design ideas, critical and creative thinking, sustainability, material development, and research that explore innovative production processes.
Now in its fifth iteration, Stylecraft presents an exhibition of the 2024 shortlisted works at the Stylecraft showroom on Flinders Lane.
The 2024 AFDA winner will be announced at the opening event. The winner will receive a cash prize of AUD $20,000, and a coveted invitation from Stylecraft to develop a design through to commercial production.
The exhibition features ambitious new work by the 2024 finalists:
- Bala Ga’ Lili (Bonhula Yunupingu and Damien Wright)
- Marta Figueiredo
- Michael Gittings
- Nae Tanakorn
- supermanoeuvre + Tomkins Design
The AFDA is presented by NGV and Stylecraft with the competition process developed and delivered by CityLab.
