In The Legacy Objects, the designer examines the transition of materiality from the natural wilderness into the interior. The project centres on ‘carbon-based creations’, tracing how organic matter is transformed within the domestic realm.

The exhibition invites visitors to move through a space shaped by the tension between raw origin and refined form. By breaking down the life cycle of materials, the work considers how the carbon cycle – an essential rhythm of the natural world – is arrested and solidified into functional artefacts. Rather than relying on ornament, the installation uses density, texture and weight to create a sense of permanence.

What to expect:

  • Material archaeology: An exploration of the blurred boundaries between the outdoor environment and the constructed interior.
  • Tactile inquiry: A presentation of carbon-based forms that prioritise sensory engagement and the physical memory of the material.
  • Spatial narrative: A curated environment that prompts reflection on how objects serve as ‘legacies’, bridging the gap between primordial time and contemporary living.
