Experience Australia’s first stereoscopic 3D LED Volume Studio at the University of Melbourne, and immerse yourself in hyper-realistic extreme fire scenarios as if you are present in a fire ground, like this year’s Los Angeles wildfires.
This exhibition brings together leading researchers, artists, designers, scientists, and emergency responders to demonstrate how creative and technological innovation are developed into immersive experiences that enable us to understand, anticipate and respond to these escalating fire threats. Visitors can engage with iFire, a tool and training platform, currently being developed and utilised by the world’s foremost emergency services. Audiences can also engage with Penumbra, an internationally exhibited art installation based on iFire, which explores fire-laden pasts and futures from the perspective of the fire itself.
Created by The University of NSW Sydney’s iCinema Centre, led by Dennis Del Favero, that transform complex mathematical models of extreme fire events into life-like cinematic experiences. It redefines the way we engage and take action in a world shaped by climate extremes.
